The Computerized ENcyclopedia of TRAde Law and Policy (CENTRAL) is an interactive storehouse of trade agreements, laws, and reports, together with finding aids. Among the materials it includes are WTO agreements, U.S. laws and trade agreements, and explanatory materials. All of the items on CENTRAL are hyperlinked, including internal links to other provisions in the same law or agreement, as well as external links to other laws or agreements.
The most useful tool on CENTRAL is the Dictionary of Trade Policy. In addition to defining hundreds of terms in this field, it is also a gateway to the laws, agreements, and other materials that are cited in its definitions.
For more information on how trade policy is legislated, negotiated, and adjudicated see the page on Institutions and Rules.
The items on CENTRAL serve as reference material, as an integrated resource for the reporting in the Washington Trade Report, and as a tool for learning in this field. See also the page on Capacity-Building in Trade Policy for further guidance and options.
